( 015 ) Ω ( VIDEO )

[When the video comes on, there's some fumbling and muttering - 'I got it, I got it' - right before the entire thing tumbles over and cuts out. When it comes on again, the video is steady and Scott is backing away with his hands up like that's the only thing keeping the communicator steady. He stops next to Stiles, shooting him a grin.]

Told you it'd stay.

[They're dressed in their lacrosse gear, maroon jerseys with 'Beacon Hills' across the front. Scott scoops up his stick from the ground, and plants the butt in the dirt beside him.]

We're officially getting a Barge lacrosse league.

[Because how many of you need a distraction??? Scott sure does.

And so does Stiles. He immensely needs a distraction, and lacrosse seems like a pretty healthy thing for him to channel his energy into and focus on. He leans against Scott and looks at the communicator -- which is inevitably going to fall at some point.]

And before you say you don't know how to play, or you've never heard of lacrosse, that's okay. We'll tell you everything you need to know. Scott here is the captain of the team back home in Beacon Hills and I am no longer just warming the bench.

[He grins. Scott matches it, nodding enthusiastically.]

Yeah, totally. I know a few of you are already down, and the rest of you - I'll come sing outside your door, okay, don't make me do it. We're in the CES, we've got the door, like, propped open with a rock. [A really big rock that he had to lug over.] I've got plenty of gear, so we can start right away. And everyone's welcome! Inmate, warden, whatever. So come and--shit!

[The inevitable has come, and Scott dives for the communicator as it tumbles forward, giving a whirlwind view of sky and dirt. In the background, you can hear Stiles'] Dude, I told you! [before the feed cuts out completely.]

Now see, I don't know much about this sport, but I would hold off on any recruiting until you've seen him play. In theory, he should be great. He has great hand-eye coordination, he's in great shape. But you never know. Maybe adding a stick to the equation will completely change the results.

-- You use a stick in lacrosse, right?

I figure if I can play without a disaster happening, he'll be fine.

Yep. That's the one.

He probably will be. Peter's kind of got a knack for being good at anything he puts his mind to.

[ but her grin turns sheepish ]

Not that I'm horribly biased or anything.
voluntaryapnea: (genuine smile)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-07 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Why doesn't that surprise me?

[He grins a little when she does.]

Fair enough. We all have our biases.

But hey, I'm sure you don't have to worry about causing any disasters. I mean, e-you seems pretty coordinated. If you look past the whole camera crashing to the ground part of this transmission.
voluntaryapnea: (hand gestures)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-08 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
[His smile dims just a little at that. Oh he's caused a lot of disasters lately. Not on the Barge, though.]

E-me is very coordinated. I'm very confident in E-me. And the camera thing was all Scott. I told him it wasn't going to stay put.

[ she spots that drop, she recognizes that drop ]

I'm sure you have every reason to be confident in 3D-you, too. I mean, I can't say for sure since it's taken you guys this long to make plans I can wedge my way into, but you know. [ teasing? yeah definitely. she wasn't sitting around waiting for Peter's friends to invite her to hang out. ] No, um, but really, I'm pretty excited to hang out with you guys. It'll be fun. And completely not disastrous.
voluntaryapnea: (awkward laugh)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-08 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[He winces -- oops. He hasn't really been social here in an in-person kind of way. Not regularly. The few times have been kind of accidental, actually. He's not good at the social stuff. At all.]

I hope you're not disappointed. And that there aren't any disasters. Disasters are not good.

[ ah, she's not either - it's pretty much why she made the joke ]

I am super flattered that you're worried whether I'll be disappointed by you or not, but you really have nothing to worry about. Peter thinks you guys are great, so I'm sure I will too.
voluntaryapnea: (half smile)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-08 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Awkward anti-social types of the world: unite!

It's so foreign to Stiles that someone aside from Scott McCall actually thinks he's great. He's never understood it with Scott, really. Scott is pretty much the best guy he's ever known. And for another hero to think it? It's so strange. It doesn't fit with the image of himself he has in his head at all.]

Well, you don't have anything to worry about either. I mean, not that you're worried. Just -- you don't need to be if you are. Peter's awesome, too. Obviously. [He shakes his head. At least he's starting to babble a bit like his old self again?]

Obviously. [ Gwen laughs, but it's not at him. no really! she gets that, she's pretty much in babble mode whenever she's trying to talk to people her own age and she isn't wearing a lab coat ]

Hey so, you guys have a lacrosse team at school? Is that where you both learned to play?
voluntaryapnea: (genuine smile)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-09 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[He can't help but grin at her laughter. He doesn't even care that much if she's laughing at him or not.]

Yeah, lacrosse is the game of choice in Beacon Hills. You kinda grow up watching people play it. We both tried out freshman year. Which -- was two years ago. A little over now, actually.
interns: (t i n)

[personal profile] interns 2014-06-10 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
What! You made the team as freshman, isn't that a good thing? I mean, we don't really have field sports at our school - NYC isn't exactly a hub for anything that requires grass - but as far as I know, making the team right off the bat is pretty good, right? [ she twists her mouth up, waves a hand at the camera. pish posh! ] Trying to make it sound like you have a rough time of it. Pah.
voluntaryapnea: (laughing)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-11 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
We made awesome bench warmers. [He smirks.] I think it was more so if and when the other players got hurt, we were the really lame backups.
interns: (c h l o r i n e)

[personal profile] interns 2014-06-11 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see.

Well hey, if you guys are starting up the teams here, you won't have to be bench warmers. You'll be- um. [ what's the word? sports are so hard. ] Captains! Right? You'll both be captains.
voluntaryapnea: (genuine smile)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-12 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, captains! [Back home he pretty much has exactly zero chance of ever being a lacrosse team captain, but he's going to enjoy it while he's here.]

Well then, I wish you all the success, Captain Stilinski. [ like it's an official title, yes yes ] I hope your team does really well, and scores- hundreds and hundreds of goals. [ HOW DO SPORTS? ]
voluntaryapnea: (laughing)

[personal profile] voluntaryapnea 2014-06-15 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Ms. Stacey. [He might be beaming. And you might also be his new favorite person. He does chuckle lightly at the hundreds and hundreds comment but yes -- goals! That's correct. He's impressed.]
